Competition Details:
Participants of the Academy will have the opportunity to compete at the Academy competition: the competition will be part of the academy’s curriculum. At the conclusion of the competition the 1st prize winner will be presented with a new Henri Selmer Presence Bb clarinet, selected by the academy’s artists. 2nd prize winner will receive a $1000 prize, and 3rd prize winner will receive a Selmer Paris Concept Bb Mouthpiece.
First round repetoire: (to be sent electronically)
- Heinrich Sutermsieter- Capriccio for unaccompanied clarinet in A
- W.A Mozart- Clarinet concerto in A K. 622- Allegro
The deadline for first round recordings (audio/video) is April 1st. No accompaniment is required.
Final round:
- Jean Francaix- Theme and variations for clarinet and piano
- Joan Tower – Fantasy (..those harbor lights)
- Max Reger- Sonata in Ab op. 49 no.1 Allergo affanato
Prizes:
First Prize: Henri SELMER Paris B♭ professional clarinet (to choose from Présence, Recital, Signature, Privilège and Muse)
Second Prize: $1,000 cash prize
Third Prize: Selmer Paris Concept Bb Mouthpiece
